 

The Beaverbrook property has recently been converted from a land staked license to an Extended Map Staked License No. 10221M. It consists of 71 claims of approximately 25 hectares and includes Mining Lease 146 (4813) that covers 172.191 hectares (approx 10 claims). The claim block, file number 774:5666 has a Northeast Corner located at UTM coordinates of 5399000m N. and 635000 m E. in zone 21 using NAD 27 for Canada. As of August 2004 the license status is "issued" with $0.00 to be expended on the property by September 9, 2008.
The 25 year Mining Lease No. 146 (4813) covers approximately 10 of the claims under
license 4813 and was issued in 1996 with a yearly renewal date of August 23rd. The Beaverbrook property originally consisted of 90 claims held under licenses 4569, 4577, 4578, 4579, 4712, 4713, 4714, 4784. Six (6) of these ground staked licenses were grouped in 1996 under License N° 4813 to allow the issuance of a mining lease. Licenses 4713 and
4714 which represent 3 claims were not renewed and subsequently expired on August 24th 2000.
Ground staked license 4813 was converted to map staked license 10221M on June 18th 2004 Map staked license 10221M covers 71 claims (approximately 25 Ha each). The 25 year Mining lease 146 (4813) forms part of a map staked license 10221M and covers 172.191 hectares or about 7 claims (approx 25 Ha each) and was issued in 1996. The renewal date for the lease is August 23 (Govt of NL and Labrador Mining Recorder, December14, 2005).
A 450 tonne per day mill was built on site. The design allows the milling capacity to be increased to 600 metric tonnes per day. A retaining dyke was also built to contain mill tailings. Finally, service and dry buildings were built at the mine site along with an office building.
 The Beaverbrook property is located 60 km southwest of Gander, Newfoundland and 2 km west of the Northwest Gander River. The property can be accessed from Gander, via the Trans Canada Highway.
The site is accessible from the western section of Glenwood by following the road southerly from the Trans Canada Highway. This gravel forestry road passes the Stuckless sawmill lumber yard and travels on the west side of the Northwest Gander River to the eastern part of the property and directly into the mine site.
The secondary gravel road distance from the Trans Canada Highway to the mine site is 40 km. Four bridges have been repaired and the most of the gravel road is being maintained by a local forestry company. Gander is serviced by regular national and international air traffic to the local airport. The property is also serviced by a 40 km long 66kV transmission power line from Glenwood to the mine site. |
